
Matt is a litigator and public-interest advocate with over two decades of experience in law and political strategy. Matt's experience spans complex civil litigation, consumer advocacy and anti-discrimination cases, political campaigns and statewide public leadership. Matt's focus is bringing rigorous advocacy and strategic judgement to cases and causes where accountability matters most.
Before joining Evergreen Legal, Matt was a partner at Madel PA in Minneapolis. Earlier in his career, he was an associate at Robins Kaplan LLP and clerked for the Minnesota Supreme Court. He has also served as Deputy Director of Voter Protection for the Hillary Clinton 2016 campaign in Ohio, working to protect and expand access to voting during the 2016 presidential election.
Matt's commitment to public service extends beyond the courtroom. He began his career in politics on Paul Wellstone's U.S. Senate campaign and has since worked on presidential campaigns for Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton, as well as races across the country. In 2018, Matt was the Democratic-endorsed candidate for Minnesota Attorney General.
Matt earned his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, where he serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Minnesota Law Review.
